The Esports Awards, founded in 2016 to provide coverage for the emerging billion-dollar esports industry, has short listed Metagame as a finalist for three awards:

  • Esports Content Series of the Year

  • Esports Video Production team of the Year

Beauchamp spent over 5 years writing, producing, and editing Metagame.

“Being nominated for not just one, but for three Esports Awards means so much after the long road producing Metagame” said Travis Beauchamp, writer, producer, and director of Metagame. “I’m thankful for the communities’ continued support and reception to my creative work. Their support along with everyone who helped put together Metagame made this all possible.”

“We were taken aback when the initial premiere of Metagame was seen by more than a million fans and trended #2 on Twitter” said Christopher Brown, executive producer of Metagame. “Travis is a proven world-class writer, director, and producer and being a finalist in these categories will help bring new fans to his work and expose them to the passion of the grassroots Smash community.”

MEDIA ALERT: Metagame Documentary LLC Reveals Details of “The Gods Respond” Special Event Coming June 5 to 6, 2021 - New Trailer and Event Details Revealed

BELLEVUE, WA | NEW YORK, NY – May 15, 2021 – Metagame Documentary LLC will produce a special two-day event – The Gods Respond coming June 5 – 6, 2021 on Twitch.

The Gods Respond will feature the worldwide premiere of the bonus episode – Godslayer – featuring William “Leffen” Hjelte. Final cuts of the original eight Metagame episodes, first premiered last December to over 1 million viewers, will also be streamed during the weekend.

Recently cut response interviews with all five Smash Gods and the Godslayer will air between episodes each day.

“We saw the communities’ split response to the initial premiere of Metagame last December and wanted to ensure today’s viewpoints of the five Smash Gods and the Godslayer were represented” said Travis Beauchamp, writer, producer, and director of Metagame. “I’m grateful that Mango, Armada, Hungrybox, Mew2King, PPMD, and Leffen were each so generous with their time to film response interviews with me. I was also able to cut a new episode specifically about Leffen and can’t wait to see how fans react to the Godslayer worldwide premiere.”

“The livestream premiere of Metagame reached over 1 million viewers and trended #2 on Twitter in the US,” said Christopher Brown, executive producer and owner of the largest Smash fan site Smashboards.com. “Despite this success, the esports and smash community let us know there was more story to tell about each these players and we needed to tell it. Travis really went to work since the premiere to meet the high bar set by the community. Getting six new interviews cut and creating a new feature episode was no small task and fans can now look forward to that passion coming through in The Gods Respond event.”

Fans will be able to watch The Gods Respond on twitch.tv/metagame on June 5 – 6 starting at 10 a.m. PT each day.

The final cuts of the original episodes were released in 2021 and are now available on Vimeo at vimeo.com/ondemand/metagame.
